Yeah, I've seen reviews on places like backpackgeartest.org (I'm pretty sure Steve Howe from Backpacker gave it an editors choice award too, and that guy is pretty gnarly on his gear) where people have been able to get a taut pitch, so it might have to take a few pitches but I think its a pretty solid shelter. Its just a little to heavy (around 3lbs) for something that I would like to use _________________ But let the mind beware, that though the flesh be bugged, the circumstances of existence are pretty glorious

It's not the design that would prevent me from buying it either. I've seen plenty of non-free standing tents sag with improper set-up. Its the 3+ lbs that I wouldn't want from that design.
But if I was sans tent and in the market, it's not a bad buy at all for $80. |
