I'm looking for a decent legal website to download MP3's from and am wondering what everyone has been using out there and why you like the site. There's a ton to choose from but would rather have one that charges a monthly fee for unlimited downloads rather than a per song download.
Thanks for your input.

Trish,
Ebay joined the music downloading business today. I don't know what their pricing is but to steal market share from the big players in this space I would guess they would have to compete on price.

I think Walmart.com has music downloads. You probably won't be able to get your gangsta rap there though. _________________

To conifrm what Daryl is saying, Walmart only sells the edited versions of music. That includes all genres. So if a song has cuss words or sexually explicit words they will be dubbed with something that just doesn't fit.... _________________ All our dreams come true if we have the courage to pursue them...Walt Disney |

No gangsta rap? I'm truly heartbroken.
I did download a few songs from there last night although they were in WMA format not MP3 (no big deal). Their selection was so-so. I was surprised they had no Bob Seger at all as well as other classic rockers. _________________ ~~~Trish~~~

www.itunes.com (that is what we have) sells them and now napster has to sell their songs as well ( www.napster.com) _________________ But let the mind beware, that though the flesh be bugged, the circumstances of existence are pretty glorious

I just ran across a very interesting couple of sites.
Most of the music listed on these sites is independent, but there are also the occasional main-stream artist, but hey, it's all free and very legal, and some of the music is quite good.
Start here for a comprehensive list of sites that have that type of music.
Then take a look at this guy's site where everything is organized and reviewed.
UPDATE:Holy crap! I am deeply impressed. Some of the links out of the second site I listed are VERY nice. I'm listening to some of the (rather large) downloads available from Sonic Sunset and they are very cool. I'm jealous of Chicago that they have this radio station. _________________ "Only small minds want always to be right."

VERY cool sites....especially this guy's. Some of the music is pretty interesting and the band names are pretty wild. Babylon Whores?
BTW, there's one awesome radio station from Florence called KCDX 103.1 that plays COMMERCIAL FREE/DJ Jabber free music. Lots of "B" sides and stuff you haven't heard in years.
Great links all the same....thanks!

I think that's the station we listened to in the Goat Hauler on the way to Rogers Trough in January. _________________ [/size] |

No doubt Mike......
I listen to it every day during my commute and it often becomes a "name that tune" game for me. They have a website too and I hear they're thinking of Internet streaming soon too.
Best station I've heard in years! NO commercials, no DJ jabber.
