In the Chiricahuas we saw this bird. There were about 4 of them that hung around us, one had a speck of teal color on it's neck, the brighter colored ones had speckled white on their wings. This bird was beautiful and was wondering if anyone knew what it was.

Could it have been a Spotted Towhee (formerly known as a Rufous Sided Towhee)?

And where should the ranger send the ticket for feeding the wildlife?

J/K, There are some happy crows at Rustler Park yesterday also.

Ummm, it was an all organic grain cracker?! Embarassed

I've got an idea! Hey, GB, what's your address again? I'll even let you stand on high ground, next time we have a group photo!

I have to agree, it was a Black-headed Grosbeak (Pheucticus melanocephalus), they are magnificent, very charming and very flirtatious! Did I mention thief's too? They kept stealing my cracker.

Thanks everyone! There are some really awesome birds in that area. Very colorful.

Mary

Mary, no just millimeters at best.
Well, now I'm back and sore from the hike today, if I were to get measured right now, I'm sure I shrunk a foot from the hike today. Laughing
