I know a group planning this barely organized trip for Saturdy of MLK weekend, and plan to go along. Anyone else? 16 miles, 4500' EC. |

Yep, saw her and Wayne at the top of the B.A. while I was waiting for others in the group. Seems like I always run into somebody I know whenever I hike there. I also stopped in and said hi to Bryan Wisher at the Phantom Ranch ranger station.
I don't know when the Bright Angel trail was re-aligned below Indian Garden, maybe early 20's or 30's? The old route is shown in a few of the photos by the Kolb brothers, showing a mule trail on the lower end of this stretch. I'll look it up at home, if'n I can remember to do that.... Hank |
