More information to come, but I just wanted to get this out here before Tom started busting on me.

July's Group hike of the month will be Humphrey's peak. My initial thinking is to get up there Friday evening and hit the trail early Saturday morning. Maybe meet at the trailhead at 8am?

The trail is well used and easy to follow. To the peak it's about 4.5 miles and 3300 feet of elevation gain. The trail starts off in a heavily wooded ponderosa pine forest but slowly climbs out of the trees. The saddle, about 3 miles in, makes a good lunch/break spot and for some people this will also be a good turn around spot. From the saddle to the peak can be pretty grueling if you are not from Flagstaff and there are 3 or 4 false peaks that will disppoint you on the way, but on a clear day the peak is well worth the effort.

I'm on the fence for a couple of reasons, primarily, because my wife is preganant and it depends on how she's doing at that point whether I (and she) can go. I want to do it, but can't be 100% sure for now.

OK, I'm gonna relent and the women camping can have acess to the motorhome's bathroom; don't want any of the AZH women running out trying to get six months pregnant 'tween now and then Crazy

or borrowing babies so they can potty inside! Rolling Eyes

But I'm not hauling a full tank of water up there, so water usage is gonna have to be very limited....in other words, use hand sanitizer instead of the motorhome's sink. Wink

I'll be there Friday morning to Sunday...possibly longer.(temporary retirement now) I'm undecided about the hike but I will be there for the Humphrey's Hammock Hang-out, Hooli's Portable Potty Laughing

and the Fiesta/sangrias for sure.

Mark me down, I'm in! I will be coming up Friday and doing the hike, then heading back to Phoenix after the hike. Can't wait.

I think I might attempt this. I'm going to be real slow on the hike, and I'm not sure I'll even make it, but I think I want to try. This has been on my list for two years now, and even though I'm not in the hiking shape that I would like to be in, I think I still might want to try. Neither Dave nor I have any plans that w/e, so maybe I can convince him to camp too!! I'll have to talk w/ him about it over the w/e, and let you all know on Monday. But for now, count me in on the hike!!

You guys will love this hike! It doesn't really get fun until you get above tree line and get to experience the false summits! I wish I could join in the fun, but we'll be back east...
