what a difference.

do u mean what a difference comparing use of poles with another pair or using poles vs not using poles?

my husband left his poles in his backpack the whole way up and down old baldy trail. he thinks they get in the way. i don't think he uses them right, either, though. He seems to put them both on the ground at the same time instead of with the alternate foot. they've sure saved me a bunch of times and i can go faster downhill with them since i feel safer with more points on the ground.

glad u like your poles!

i mean versus not using poles. this was my first time using them. still need to get the technique down, but after hiking a short ways without them after using them the whole day, i was like wow!!

at times i did feel they got in the way-more when on flat terrain, but up and down hill, they've really been life-savers-and on flat terrain, they're still good to move branches out of the way or have something else for the snake to try to bite before my leg or as seen posted, lately, for other animals charging at you (dogs...).

my knees thank them, too. going up Humphreys a few weeks ago I saw this woman with some things that looked sort of like tight less wide wrist bands or a hair scrunchy that went right under her knees. For some added support, that looked like it might work well, too.
