I would like to make another trip to Picacho Peak and/or Quartz peak.
Dates are not set yet, if you are interested, please reply here.
Picacho Peak is about 40 miles N of Tucson, The hunter trail is 2 miles ( 4 miles round trip ) and very steep ( 2000 ft elevation gain ). The last time we went as a group, it was great fun.
Quartz Peak is in the West valley ( Estrella mountian range ) and is a 5 mile round trip with a 2400 foot gain in elevation. This trail is considered remote and a 4X4 is recomended to access the trailhead.
I would like to do both of these before spring/summer arrives and it gets too hot....
Whadaya think? |
Since the Quartz Peak portion of this seems to be taken care of, what about the Picacho Peak part? I'm thinking March 15th. I have family in town from the 21st to the 29th and am not sure they could make it. We could do it later, just want to make sure it doesn't get so hot that this hike is not enjoyable. Let me know what you think. _________________ Steve |

Post the dates that you might want to attempt this ....I would like to do this. Early Feb should be still quite good....
Note: this is a great wildflower hike -- Late Feb/March time frame. If the rains continue I am hoping for a good year of wildflowers... _________________ Photos: http://www.pbase.com/desertgirl/galleries
