Any kind souls out there who have the mapsource programs that are compatible with Garmin E-Treks GPS units...I'm interested in the software...but don't want to buy it...perhaps I could "borrow" yours for an afternoon...

I assume you are asking for the CD ROM that puts the maps on your GPS? I also would like to "borrow" the Topo model. I have the streets for the US, and while it is a propietary software, it costs somewhere around 75 bucks. Pretty steep for small advantage. I guess if you were someone that traveled the whole US it would be worth while, but for the local use it seems expensive. Just my thoughts. Sure if you want to borrow the CD for the STreets of the US, I would loan it to you.
