Just got a confirmaton call from a buddy of mine that his dad will be in town that weekend and wanted to do the ridgeline.

I, of course, said yes.

Anybody else care to join in?

It is Valentine's day though and I'm sure my wife would appreciate a date that night. So the start time will be fairly early, probably 5:30 am at the trailhead. Hopefully getting done before sundown.

I'm not sure how fast we'll be able to move. I'm not concerned about the dad - he's an animal. However, my buddy has said "I don't want a 51 yr old showing me up" - even though I'm absolutely certain that the 51 yr old will thouroughly school the 27 yr old. As I said - dude is an animal.

Anyway - that's the plan thus far. Anyone interested is welcome to come along.

Okay. How is it when your buddies come around talkin' hike, you flop at the word?

When WE talk hike, it's "hmmm... welll ummm let me check with the one who wears the pants in the family"... or, "I got a hangnail"... or, "my son is gonna beat me up" or somethin' along those lines.

Hmmmm?!?

Now, now - don't get all uppity or anything....

My buddy's family was in town a few months back and I took them on a hike up Flatiron. The dad loved it so much you wouldn't believe it (they're out of Nebraska).

So the next week he calls his son (my buddy) and says "I'm going to be going to San Diego on a business trip in February. Since I'll be in the area, tell Jared I want to do that ridgeline hike he was talking about."

First of all - San Diego really isn't really in the "area" unless you're referring to the southwest. So dude needs to get a grip. He REALLY wants to do this hike.

Second - the reservations for my services were made MONTHS ago. Not that I'm complaining. I lost all the pictures from the last ridgeline hike so I'm dying to get back up there and snap a few more.

Besides - it's always easier to get out when you are setting your own schedule rather than conforming to someone elses.

So there. Wacko

P.S.: I'm no dummy (contrary to popular opinion) - it may look like my wife wears the pants, but that's only because she does. Very Happy I try as hard as I can to give as much time to her on the weekends as I can. Lord knows I'm not around much during the week. Sad
