I was out hiking in the eastern Superstition's today with Terricita10 and we started talking about Jack Carlson & Elizabeth Stewart's book "Hikers guide to the Superstitions". We've used it ALOT over the past 3 years but in their book they never really say much about the eastern trails besides brief descriptions and directions to the TH's. However they did mention that they planned a future book of that area. I've met people who have claimed to run into Jack Carlson hiking or mentioned him in trip reports as someone they contacted for info. We were wondering if anyone out there knows them or is one of them and whether they'll ever publish a 2nd book? I'm sure it would sell a few copies. |

I have one copy that's well worn and recently bought a copy of the 2002 edition. I believe Fritzski knows him fairly well. A number of years ago, I found Carlson's email address somewhere online and emailed him with a question about the route from West Boulder Saddle to the Ridgeline. He replied, and was very helpful. He told me then that they were working on an updated version of the book. I think most of the changes in the latest edition are typo corrections, things like that. _________________ [/size] |
