great info! I've carried the gallon size and liter size regular H20 bottles backpacking before. What's good about Nalgenes is they are leakproof, there's something handy about them if you camp where there's snow or it's really cold (I forget, because I hate the cold, so moved to AZ and avoid cold at every cost so I don't really need to know that factor), and their unbreakable. I carried frozen H20 in the gallon size regular H20 bottles once inside a grocery bag in my backpack and my back and stuff got wet from condensation and possible leakage. I like to use the big nalgene-top bags that you can fold down when they're empty and like to have the security of the filter if there's only mucky H20 around.

ultra light is something that depends on lots of things. Personally, I like the ideas, but don't mind the added security and a little extra poundage. well, i mind it towards the end of the hike, tho!!! Mad
