Looks like 114 here in Vegas for the 4th. I may end up having a date with a good book or DVD. _________________ "Surely all God's people, however serious or savage, great or small, like to play. Same here Robert, it is supposed to be 114. We will do an early AM bike ride and then La Dolce Far Niente, one of my favorite arts.
What are we doing for the 4th? Well, we haven't waited and have been doing it. A couple of days ago................;

Threedogz, that was courtesy of the magic of the Colorado Plateau, the Navajo sandstone, a red lichen that likes the setting and the endless vaulting skies. Two days and two long loops, the first with high clouds to add volume and the second, above, with some beautiful cumulus that make such a three dimensional effect in the blue skies. All under a coolish 89 degrees even at mid-day.
No forests when I go, mountains only as a backdrop, just put me somewhere out on the Plateau a place of endless and glorious days, strange and wonderful nights, mesas and canyons remote and blindingly beautiful. _________________ Seize from every moment its unique novelty and do not prepare your joys

The clouds definitely add to the image. A nice peaceful place to unwind. I'm going to have to get out there someday.

Time honored tradition for those who live near A mountain in Tucson. They'll shoot off a big fireworks display which those in the neighborhood will see close up. Tucson Fire Dept will be nearby and we will have all our garden hoses hooked up. They usually manage to set the mountain and sometimes nearby areas on fire. I'll sit outside in my lawn chair at ready. With a few cold ones.

I sit high over the Las Vegas Valley. From my place the valley looks like a boiling caldron when all the casinos, the mom and pop places and the neighborhoods kids start with the fireworks. There will be fires everywhere that night.
I hiked at 10,000 feet all day today and it was in the upper 80's there. When I got home at 6PM I ha two thermometers that read 112.3 degrees. It's supposed to be hotter on the 4th. I was supposed to go to the cost this week but several things interfered. I then planned on doing a pretty serious photo shot of the local parks fireworks but if it's 115 at 9PM I'll be eatin' Reeses and watchin' DVDs. _________________ "Surely all God's people, however serious or savage, great or small, like to play. 116 in Phoenix
121 in Laughlin
128 in Death Valley
Think I'll rent that DVD today and try to invent a new ie cream float on the 4th.
Upper 80's on Charleston but I don't like to go to popular places on holidays. _________________ "Surely all God's people, however serious or savage, great or small, like to play. "I'm melting!"...and not because someone threw water on me. (Yeah I know, I'm a whimp when it comes to triple digits). I'm heading for higher ground and BIG trees. Maybe even a lake or two depending which trail I take. |

Somehow a trip to Maine is sounding REALLY good right about now.
