I have only seen scorpions in the wild a few times, but cleaning a closet Monday night in anticipation of new carpet, I reached down to pick up a sack, and it bit back. I knew what was happening a spit second too late. I pulled my hand back and exclaimed, "Oh shucky darn!" or something similar. I've been bit before and survived so the panic wasn't as high as the first time. I calmed down, put some frozen food on the site, and was back to see what more I could do cleaning up the closet. I put my ankle against a box to push it aside and OH DARN, again. The litte darling had climbed up the side of the box, ankle heigth, and was waiting.
No life altering effects, tingling, metal taste in the mouth, later on some slight twitching in my eyes, which kept me awake all night, and bite site pain. Tingling lasted mabye 36 hours, finger is still numb but coming back.
Worst part-the perpetrator escaped! _________________ The bear went over the mountain to see what he could see. |

is there a particular type of frozen food that is better suited for scorpion stings than another? I'd like to stock up.
Hopefully the critter jumped ship with the old carpet...be careful, it's a jungle out there! _________________ ~Tracy

I've been tagged on two occasions. Both times it was at home. In the wilderness I've always seen them before they got close enough to tickle me. |

We need a prize for the person who uses a cuss word that gets past the censor. You guys go first.
Two days out, only the end of the stricken digit is numb. I can type again, my work life is safe. _________________ The bear went over the mountain to see what he could see. |

Yeah, I seldom even see them in the wild, mostly here at home, and living by the desert, they seem to be quite plentiful. The tile guys came and went all day out the garage door, so my theory is that the buggers slipped in under the door while it was not latched tight. _________________ The bear went over the mountain to see what he could see. |

Probably was in the tile boxes, once on a job we had mexican tile shipped in for the roof, and there was a bunch of scorpions in them they were packed with some type of straw packing between the tiles, the perfect home for them. |

sounds about right!
unfortunately, insecticide does not harm scorpions unless sprayed directly upon them, in that case just pick the bugger up with the glass jar trick.
I cant imagine how many live in the 2 Phx. Palms in the yard, or in the arroyo out back. Ive seen 1 desert hairy and 1 stripetail inside the house, fortunately both relatively harmless. A true Bark was captured outside. Not to mention the countless Vinegaroons, centipedes, widows and brown spiders. ( I hope the Spadefoots and house geckos can keep em in check)
Shawn the one that got you might have been a Desert Hairy? If it was a Bark you would have had much greater localized pain _________________ http://www.arizonahikers.com/board/albums/albwb18/BRIDGE.sized.jpg
