Where - Cave Creek Regional Park - Group Campsite
37019 N. Lava Lane
Cave Creek, AZ 85331
Ph: 623-465-0431
Fax: 623-465-9284
You will need to tell the ranger at the gate that you are with the Arizona Hikers Group. They will then hand you a map and tell you how to get to the Group Campsite. From what I understand they will not charge you the regular Entrance Fee if you are camping. I will collect your camping fees when you get to camp. If you are not camping and only staying for the day, then you will need to pay the Entrance Fee at the gate.

Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area is located approximately 35 miles north of central Phoenix. Interstate 17, State Route 51, and Loop 101 can all be used to reach the park. From the intersection of Carefree Highway and Cave Creek Road head north on Cave Creek Road about 2.5 miles to Spur Cross Road. Turn north for approximately 4.5 miles to the public parking area. After 3 miles the road turns to all-weather graded. The last 1.5 miles can be confusing; continue north on the graded road past the green house, through the tall gateposts and on past the horse corrals to the signed public parking area on the right.

Todd,
Are we scheduled to be camping at the same group site as we were a couple years ago? _________________ "A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out."

Ok, I can only hike and eat lunch, maybe stay for dinner. I have a baby shower to go to the next day, pick up my race stuff for my halfy, and might do the halfy, or not. So I will just hike and eat. I guess I am the only one doing that, _________________ Anne

Going to have to bail out on this one - parents coming from California that weekend. Maybe next year...sounds like it'll be fun! _________________ Anywhere is within walking distance if you spend the time. |

YEAH! My plans have changed. I'm now in for this one. I'm not familiar with the area, and will be flying home on Friday (from cali) so maybe I'll just camp Sat night and get there bright and early for the group hike (and stay for fun!)...
See you then. _________________ Cheers,

I will drive up Friday night after work. I live in Tucson so probably won't get up to the camp ground until 6 or 7 depending on the traffic. Will signs be out where to camp?
I plan on bringing some pumpkin soup and corn bread muffins to share on Sat. night.
Looking forward to meeting some new friends and seeing a new area of Arizona.

Okay...thought I would have to cancel because I doubled booked myself; however, I worked it out and I will still be able to attend. I'll have to leave real early Sunday morning but I'm happy to say I'll be there for the hike and camping two nights!

If I can find some decent raw meat to hold a match to for a couple of minutes, I'll bring that for Sat. night instead of spinach dip. or I may bring both......I have spinach dip that I was gonna take to a party last Saturday, but flu kept me away; it's been sitting outside for a week and I sneezed on it a couple of times, so the Unique Hooli green may be better than ever! _________________ John Richardson and Richie Rich, El Perro de Playero

Don’t sure if there is a “pot luck” list yet or not, but I am planning to bring my old standard (a vat of Chili). Maybe I will spice it up an bring some corn bread, we will see. _________________ Tony |

Menu items are up and there are updated instructions at the top of the thread consisting of such -
You will need to tell the ranger at the gate that you are with the Arizona Hikers Group.
We have the entire Group Campsite reserved and there will be plenty of room to spread out or in.
I expect that it will be cold at night so we'll need some firewood toi burn.
Get in here y'all!

Ain't gonna be no raw meat, if I make it at all, I'll bring the spinach dip. As for making it at all that's tentative at best right now. _________________ John Richardson and Richie Rich, El Perro de Playero

Gee sorry Jeannine you won't be able to make it. You're laughter will be missed.
Now about food, I'm at a loss so I'm thinking. Don't have many ideas swimming in my head these days....
Hooli what's this?? you're tentative? What happened? I'm beginning to think maybe you don't like us anymore. _________________ Wanderingsoul (Michelle)
