Thanks Michelle for checking. I'm seeing a lot of them are not mac compatible. |

Garmin as a company is not very mac friendly. However that said... I use a garmin etrex with my mac and have no problems. I use National geographic TOPO, and little utility called load my tracks, and gps babble to convert files friends send me.
I can do everything map related with TOPO, waypoints, routes etc. Babble is just for conversion if needed. Load my tracks is just a simple upload / download program. My GPS has all the southwest topos pre loaded on a chip. The only thing the garmin software does extra is load maps onto the gps and I don't need that anyways. |

Just wanted to drop a note of thanks in this thread. I had planned a canyoneering hike this weekend, but with the weather being what it was I needed a last minute change of plans and the cabin loop fit the bill. I used this guide to put together my trip. I didn't use a GPS, but the topo map and other information was very helpful. Despite an inch or so of snow, I found the trail easy to follow and VERY beautiful. Gorgeous forest and tons of elk and deer. Awesome hike. _________________ "Men wanted for hazardous journey. sounds like a good time. I would love to hike it in snow. I also found the trail very easy w/ one exception..one road crossing was rather vague. See any turkey, wolf, or fox about? _________________ http://www.arizonahikers.com/board/albums/albwb18/BRIDGE.sized.jpg

The only animals I actually saw were deer and elk (TONS of 'em), but the snow made it easy to spot tracks from multiple animals, including some bear tracks. _________________ "Men wanted for hazardous journey.
