I don't know if that has anything to do with emissions, but a new map sensor is only $75 or so from what I see online.
Any thoughts?

might check a junkyard for the part? save $?
I think what the truck really needs is Rocky Road Outfitters, Bilstein, and BF Goodrich. Also get 15" steel wheels (tires will run much, much less $)
Bling is for street queens- less rim, more rubber _________________ http://www.arizonahikers.com/board/albums/albwb18/BRIDGE.sized.jpg

Yes Mike I have to agree, I've been spending a lot more time looking at lifts than I have trying to fix emissions
I have 15" wheels now and a friend with some 32" BFG's just waiting to be put on (he got 35's for his truck), I need a 3-4" lift minimum to fit those and will still probably have a little trimming to do. Man those porridge Bilsteins are expensive though, may end of skimping on them.
Need a rear pinion seal too, small leak there, no driveway drips but I can see it's leaking. Probably some new brakes and a full flushing of all fluids as well. |

Ok, I took my car in, finally. I just needed new tires, an alignment and balance the tires. Phew! I bit the bullet. I really thought it was worse. Thanks for all your help on this! _________________ Anne

Amazing what an alignment and new rubber will do, glad it was nothing worse! |

I didn't read your post previously because I am not a mechanic, but I had to laugh when I did check it out just now... I have a 2001 CR-V with 130,000 miles and dealt with the exact same thing (with the same resolution!) just a month ago! Was it mainly when you were slowing down? Glad it was a simple fix, I know I was relieved! _________________ Petra with a long e... |

No, it was when I would hit a bump or speed up! Slowing down caused the shakes to stop! _________________ Anne

go to www.azvjc.org they have a huge classifieds section, you may be able to find a used lift kit? Or tires, or other parts? _________________

Yeah I'm already a member on there from when I have my wrangler. They do have a big classified section but not to many Grand Cherokee people on there, only 4 items listed for the ZJ parts category.
I attempted to buy some sliders from a guy, but he sold them out from under me after we already worked on a day for me to pick them up from him...jack@$$.
www.jeepforum.com and www.nagca.com
I found a used lift I want but the guy is in NY. The price is right, just need his quote on shipping. Any tips on mailing a 100 box across the US? |

Tim don't skip on the Bils. I am running 20% stiffer valving than stock on my Xterra. They are awesome. I have even have my rear sway bar removed and the stiffer valving compensates for it well. I bought mine from a mail order place and they were very reasonable.
You definitely need to lift that thing. Remember, friends don't let friends drive stock.
Then some armor, lockers, winch, time for another expensive habit!

I've been looking at a couple dirty beemers this week too. _________________ "Surely all God's people, however serious or savage, great or small, like to play. Well I picked up some sliders and a light bar from Kevin's offroad today, I saw a t-case cover on Craigslist so I may try and pick that up. Found a guy to put a new Catalytic converter for cheap.
Had new radiator hoses, coolant flushed, new front axle/differential cover (gaster) and rear pinion seal put on today.
Yeap, it's just like a typical Jeep.

bimmer makes a great car. I can only imagine the quality doesnt stop there. the beemer bikes engine's were actually made by an Italian company under strict supervision. The name dakar comes from the Paris-Dakar rally in which riders would drive 6000 miles over 18 days from France to N. Africa and because BMW enjoyed several wins using the modified F65 GS they decided to make the bike available to the public.
after reviewing and looking at some of the dual sports over the weekend like the Jap counterparts there is no doubt this is the best long distance on-road comfort. However, the used ones still fetch a $6000 price tag. Im going to have to pimp myself out. Anyone need a cabana boy? _________________ http://www.arizonahikers.com/board/albums/albwb18/BRIDGE.sized.jpg
