Not too popular in AZ but I used to own a pair when I did some hikes in the Sierras way back when. The type of "hike" where you are carrying an ice axe and rope.
But I haven't worn size 6 since I was about 10 years old! |

Yup. Actually I remember exactly what they were: Pivetta Vercours. They were a mid-weight crampon boot, not the heaviest available, so you could wear them for backpacking, although they were pretty heavy. I took them to Hawaii with me when I moved there in '78 and never wore them there, (well, duh) and left them behind at my mom's house in Kona when I moved back to the Mainland in '86. She got rid of them, I guess.
Story of my life: I moved to Kona in '78. I checked as baggage an A16 Hiphugger backpack, a surfboard, a road bike, assorted backpacking gear including two pairs of hiking boots, plus my clothes and a large stuffed frog. I returned to the Mainland in '86, having STAYED on the Big Island for 8 years with no Mainland visits AT ALL, flying out of Kona with a husband and three toddlers. NO road bike, NO hiking boots, definitely NO surfboard, but I did manage to hang onto that stuffed frog and the A16 backpack! I still have them both and I still use the backpack, too! Love that old thing! The frog is starting to come apart at the seams, though. Poor old thing.... |
