This doesn't qualify as a disaster, but it could have been one.
There is a wash in the park behind my house where I steal a quick outing when I need one. Over the year's I've wondered about the fallen sides; big chunks of naturally cemented rubble have fallen in over the years. I often speculate if this one or that one fell since I last hiked it. Nope, after seeing a for sure fresh one, none of the others are fresh. I put up some pictures. _________________ The bear went over the mountain to see what he could see. |

I'd say a rock fall fits in this category. I do hate when I'm climbing and a chunk of rock comes off in my hand when I least expect it. It's sort of a technique to slap-grab-and-tug before shifting one's weight..I'm sure there is a technical term for it. Can't get that experience in a rock gym. |
