Does anybody have an interest in West Canyon near Lake Powell? Approx +8 miles cross country backpack to a rarely visited slot. The route is considered non-tech but down climbing using rope and/or chains (already placed) and some handlining? Headlamps are needed because of reports of cavelike conditions (claustrophobics need not apply).

If I have enough notice, yes.

Mike Kelsey has a good write up on this one in his Tech Slot Canyon Guide Colorado Plateau and his Boaters Guide to Lake Powell. Doesn't sound too bad, some Keeper Potholes and some cold swims and wades. Very scenic from photos, apparently any problem area is bolted and all you need is a handline. He recommends no fewer than three people for the shoulder stands to get out of potholes. It's rated 3B VI. Some decent downclimbing. Sounds like fun!!

It needs to be warm enough so we don't have to pack suits (prefereably) and we don't have any monsoons. From my research it looks like a even trade off as far as the boat thing or hike thin goes. (approx 8+ miles to BC) Although that lake is mighty fun to cruise on and I have the boat? It's just a long haul up and through the lake and we would need to limit the # of participants.
