Just set myself up for wireless internet. Bought wireless router and wireless PC card from Gateway, both for under $120.
Hooked router up between COX cable modem and desktop PC; slipped PC card into laptop and surfed the net at cable modem speed while in bed this morning. Read that there are over 10,000 WI-FI hotspots currently available throughout the country and expected to top 25,000 by end of next year.
Starbucks charges a fee to use theirs, but some places offer it for free, including many hotels. _________________ John Richardson and Richie Rich, El Perro de Playero

Be sure to enable the authentication (security) capabilties or the WAR drivers may end up using your system too. Many folks don't do this and the default is no authentication.
Are you running 802.11a or 802.11b?

Thanks bill, 802.11b for the router and g for the PC card, and authentication is enabled; plus I live in a cul de sac in Sun City West; doubt if many WAR drivers come looking here for hotspots. _________________ John Richardson and Richie Rich, El Perro de Playero
