Okay, here's the deal. One of my classmates sent me an email of a hike. The email doesn't say where the hike is located. However, it obviously has great views and significant exposure. It looks FUN! I've been trying of and on for a week to find out more without luck. Does anyone know where this is? I'd love to go there in a year or two. The photos are in the gallery.

That's a hike like cliff diving in Acapulco is a swim......
Looks like fun, though! |

I got an email of these same exact photos via a climbing friend that works at Intel who got them from a co-worker. They seemed to think it was somewhere in China. |

That's where I've been searching. I was thinking China or Tibet. According to the email, the cable car ride gets you to the trailhead. Then you just walk the rest of the way. If I can find it I want to plan a trip there in about 2 years. _________________ It is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring. -- Carl Sagan |

And the answer is ...........China. The photographs are taken on Bei Feng, one of the sub peaks on Hua Shan( about 6600 feet), one of 9 sacred mountains in China. Bei Feng is a bottleneck when crowded and you can see that cables have been installed and steps cut into the granite Many Chinese make this climb at night to see the sunrise! |

Thank you sidhayes! I appreciate your tips. Considering all the area has to offer, I may need to plan a week or two there. _________________ It is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring. -- Carl Sagan |

Makes the backside of Picacho Peak look as adventerous as a stroll down the green belt. |

Those pics are sweet! That type of route is called "via ferrata." It's Italian for "iron way." Usually these routes are equiped with steel cables instead of chains. That way the carabiners on your harness can slide more easily as you traverse. I've always wanted to go to the Dolomites in northern Italy to try a few of these routes. Looks really fun! _________________ "Your day-glo ballet days are over." Ancient chinese proverb.
