Took a leisurely stroll along the Little Colorado River yesterday, right in Springerville. The G & F Dept. has put in a short little path. We saw two muskrats swimming in the creek--cute little buggers! Then we saw a bobcat. He was across the creek from us, we had probably disturbed him taking a drink of water. He looked at us for a long time, then rather casually bounded away into the thickets.

There is also a big herd of deer that wander through that area and feed in the fields along Airport Rd., right behind where I work. I haven't seen any for awhile, but their tracks were in evidence. Great place for bird-watching, too. Lots of herons, a few bald eagles in summer, lots of different raptors, meadowlarks singing, red-wing blackbirds making their funny noise, doves, etc.
