2005 allowed me to get my photo skills up and running and it is a great time to reflect on all the beauty of nature. Maybe someday I will get one of the big boy cameras and learn how to create some masterpieces. But isn’t it about learning from our mistakes? Surprised Still don’t know much about the settings and the perfect light and so on and so forth… so I chose to concentrate on ‘composition’ of photos. The artistry of images…framing….seeing thru my own eyes… discovering if I could capture the images just as they appeared to me. So I pay tribute this season to the cacti, my always dependable companions, whimsical, silly, and simply unique. They are very much like people. They have their own personalities and there are no two alike. In the photos they represent pride and time. They have lived here for many moons, standing at attention, and will continue to serve as guardians to their desert home. As I pass by, they tell their story and I am only a fleeting moment to them. I thank them for letting me visit here and am thankful for the memories. In the gallery, I posted some of my cactus friends from 2005.
Best wishes to all for a glorious and blessed 2006.

Sande, Sometimes you can have the best equipment, but without the eye that you have, they would ONLY be pictures. Your pictures have always told a story! Thank you for sharing through out the year! Mary

Wonderful photos that make me want to wander the low desert. Shows the time and care you took to bring the clarity, color and light of the subjects all together.

You do have an "eye" for this and your few words below each one add so much.

Beautiful pictures Sande. Well done. Seems like all of you hikers are becoming expert photographers. I take them just to remember where I've been, what I've seen and who I enjoyed it with, not stopping to reflect and think about it. Makes me ponder the thought that I should think about what it is I'm trying to see and remember through my pictures a little more.

Thank you for sharing.

Sande,
What a wonderful new year's present to share with all of us. Looking at your pictures brought such a smile to me. They are companions for those who wander the desert. You have such talent. Happy New Year to you!

I consider myself lucky to be able to share images and feelings with so many others who appreciate it. Thanks for all the kind words guys! I am thankful for having two legs to walk on and two eyes to see with, it is a gift to be able to do these things. Happy New Year ya'll!

Great Photos! Knowing where to point the camera is the hard part and it looks like you have that down. Settings and what not are easy once you understand what they are doing and how they work. Let me know if you have any questions.
