Here is one of the more interesting photography links I've seen in a long time:
Found Photos
The website's author is a camera buff and collects vintage cameras. He occasionally finds undeveloped photos inside the cameras - which he proceeds to develop to see what's there. Some of the photos he's developed have been sitting in the camera for over 50 years.
The photos have a sort of historically sad quality to them - photos of loved ones that we can no longer identify, pictures that would probably be cherished by family or even of the subjects themselves (definitely older, perhaps alive, perhaps not)...if only we knew who the photos belong to.
The author provides commentary on the photos that is appropriate and funny at the same time.
A very, very interesting site. _________________ "Only small minds want always to be right."

Several years ago a friend and I were doing a forty mile bike loop along the Russian River, Pacific Coast Highway; we stopped at the little town of Bodega, inland from Bodega bay and browsed some of the antique shops. One of them had several old family photo albums and we thought "How sad that some families somewhere were missing them." _________________ John Richardson and Richie Rich, El Perro de Playero

Whenever we hike together I always delete my pictures of Hooli. That way no one has a chance of finding them.
There was an episode of This American Life - http://www.thislife.org a few years back about a guy that bought a tape recorder and reels of tape at a thrift store. When reviewing the tapes they were of letters a family had sent to their son from years back. It was very touching and this reminds me of that story.

One of my most treasured picks from my trip to India in Aug was about 100 old family negatives (early 30's - mid 40's) ...I am having a great time printing these BW's and trying to piece together who's who ....very revealing!
I enjoyed - the Lost Photos -- Interesting how a lot of photos are of people ..now we seem to focus on things and landscapes with people as a supporting cast ! _________________ Photos: http://www.pbase.com/desertgirl/galleries

Cool site Jared. There is one camera that would be a stunning find, the one that Mallory and Irvine had on them. After all, I want to know. _________________ Seize from every moment its unique novelty and do not prepare your joys

I was cleaning out a back room in a house I lived in in VA. Up on top of the dry wall ceiling, back in between the floor joists, was a reel of tape. I dont have a reel-reel recorder/player so I've never heard it. I ocassionally think of it, this reminds me. _________________ The bear went over the mountain to see what he could see. |

Spent about an hour and a half looking at this guy's pics. Extremely interesting hobby he has. A strange feeling came over me looking at some of those "lost" shots. Almost deja-vu. It was weird.
Some of the comments he has for the pics are hilarious. I was rolling.
I used to have an old Brownie box camera when I was a kid. Wonder what became of it. Bet my Mom has it "rat holed" somewhere.
If you're bored, and want to kill some time, check out his main page. He takes some incredible shots with some of the old cameras he has found.

Several rolls of newly liberated post war Europe someplace in the Med. Priceless. _________________ "Surely all God's people, however serious or savage, great or small, like to play.
