Visited Hieroglyphic Springs (Tonto Forest trail 101) during the day, actually mid to late afternoon. Counted 111 people on the trail going in and out. Also observed two spiny lizards, gila monster and one rattlesnake. Also observed lots of unprepared folks on the trail. There was some water flowing by the petroglyph panels and the pincushion cactus were started to bloom signaling the arrival of April. |

Took a run out here today for the first time. It was nice. Not tough, but a good little reward at the petroglyphs. I agree this would be a great hike for out of towners and beginners. There was a wide diversity of flowers today, especially the cactus. My petroglyph pics were not that great so I mostly posted the flowers. http://community.webshots.com/user/miket2003
The petroglyphs are probably better experienced in person anyway. Unlike Nighthiker, I barely saw a soul. Three folks heading in just as I was wrapping up. _________________ Mike T
