But make sure you leave your sanity at the door before you go "Noodling" for catfish.
Quote:
During his nearly 20 years as a noodler, he has caught catfish weighing up to 70 pounds (32 kilograms) and narrowly missed one that was well over a 100 pounds (45 kilograms).

The behemoth "was every bit of seven and a half feet [two meters] long. His head was wider than my whole chest," McFarlin recalls.

Noodling is a sport/tradition practiced in the south for many generations. I believe it was a technique originally used by folks that were just too poor to afford a fishing pole much less a boat or nets and such. The south has many unusual methods and traditions involved in catching fish; Like fiddling for worms for bait or when I was younger living in Alabama, we used to use Ivory soap as catfish bait. Fish and especially catfish will go after some strange things to and utilize strange methods to eat sometimes. There are documented stories of such monster catfish that live at the foot of dams in the TVA system in the south. They stayed at the dams to catch all of the pieces and parts of what ever run through the dam's tunnel systems. Recently I've read stories of catching catfish using stranger methods yet. Now I understand you can catch catfish with a basketball.

I posted a picture to that fish a while ago. The scariest part is that they think there are larger fish out in the same river.
