I added a mod tonight for the Events forum which I'd like to get everyone's feedback on. You can see it in action if you go to this topic: http://www.arizonahikers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2909
The way this works is, when a new event topic is posted, the author has an additional topic type option of "Registration" (the other options are "Normal", "Sticky" and "Announcement"). Choosing "Registration" will cause the topic to have a box at the top of each page with 3 buttons. Each user can select whether they're going to participate, aren't sure, or are not participating by clicking one of the buttons. You can also change your option simply by clicking one of the other buttons. So for example, if you select "Participate", but then later something comes up and you can't participate, you simply click "Not participating". A list of users will appear under each option as selections are made. This should make it easier to keep track of who is participating on a group hike.
I'd like to also modify this a bit and include a variation for GHOTM's with an overnight option, but it'll be awhile before I can get to it. Please feel free to post any comments on the test topic and let me know what you think of this addition.
Thanks!

Just noticed something else about this... if you click "Participate" once, your username will be added, with the date/time you registered. Once you're listed under "Participate", if you click "Participate" again, a date/time will appear under "Confirmed". _________________ |

It's your topic. Just edit it and change it from an announcement to registration. _________________ |

Very cool feature mike. I like it very much. How's that edit coming that only allows Hooli to post intelligent stuff?

That's an easy script:
<?php
$hooli = [USERNAME] . "evenstar";
DELETE ALL $hooli ;

BTW How's that edit coming that only allows aliens to post intelligence stuff?
That's an easy script, too:
<?php
$AZheat, $JW, $Mike = [USERNAME] . "ArizonaHeat", "JW", "Mike";
DELETE ALL $AZheat, $JW, $Mike;
?> |

I know the above won't compile, but after a Hooli-checker, we'll probably need to think about an Alien-checker :)) |
