Cell phone? I don't/won't own one.

An ex-girlfriend insisted I take one once, but it was waste of weight. I had to be on higher ground to get a signal. If I were hurt, it had better be on a ridge or peak.

i hike really early in the morning. nobody that i know is going to call me at 7am. just wont happen. i do have my phone with me. it is generally off, or on silent, and i just check it to see if anybody has called..if they leave a message i listen to it otherwise i dont bother with it until i get home later. its generally a good idea to have it on you. lets just say i would rather have it, than not otherwise i wouldnt be able to keep track of time..i dont wear a watch because they get in the way, and im also trying to break/lose my phone so i can be forced to buy a new one because my phone is worthless Very Happy

Yes, I always have my cell phone with me everywhere...sadly enough. I espesially take it with me when I go on hikes just in case of an emergency. I've never had to use it while on the hike, thankfully, except for this last time I went to Az in January. Luckily we had it, or we would have been doomed. At the least, it saved us a bunch of time since we didn't have to look for the phone. We were able to call while hiking to help correct the mishap so when we got to the truck, things would be taken care of in a timely fashion....so to speak. Wink
