Nice photos! I hiked the Isabella Trail with a couple of friends this past summer. The upper half of the Isabella is also the upper part of the Groom Creek Loop. We got to go up into the fire tower on top of Spruce Mountain. _________________ |

That's right. How could I forget my unbridled love for the snowshoe! Ha. Too bad there wasn't an REI outlet somewhere out here because I know I'd have to go there buy those snowshoes I was checkin out a couple months ago. I'd be awesome to hike in the snow right now-w/ the snowshoes of course! Anyone know an alternative place for me to buy them at-seeing as how there is no REI outlet store in State College or the state probably. _________________ "IRONMAN" cometh, hiketh, destroyeth |

REI is in Conshohocken near Philadelphia. Been there a few times when visiting friends in Philly. I bet Appalachian Outdoors on Allen Street has at least some snowshoes. _________________ "In the first place you can't see anything from a car; you've got to get out of the goddamned contraption and walk, better yet crawl, on hands and knees...When traces of blood begin to mark your trail you'll see something, maybe."

Ha! Unbelievable. You still know where the place is. Don't think I'll be makin it down to Philly here anytime soon. However, they are building a Cabelas store in Harrisburg! So as soon as that opens here within the next couple months, I'll have to check it out. Although by the time it opens up, winter will be gone and summer time hiking will be back! In any case, I'll be buying them probably for the winter months to come! _________________ "IRONMAN" cometh, hiketh, destroyeth |

Its the Groom Creek Loop in Prescott. I found it in the 100 Hikes in Arizona book. _________________ "In the first place you can't see anything from a car; you've got to get out of the goddamned contraption and walk, better yet crawl, on hands and knees...When traces of blood begin to mark your trail you'll see something, maybe."

South of Prescott in the Bradshaw Mountains. Since you're into peak bagging, you'd probably enjoy this one. It takes you to the top of Spruce Mountain, where there's a fire tower and a great view of the Prescott Area and beyond. On a good day, you can see the San Francisco peaks up there.
Here are a couple of links. You'll need Acrobat Reader for this one...

Head over to HAZ and check out my photos on the Isabella Trail, http://hikearizona.com/photocodeZOOM.php?ID=390&TNI=441 . The upper third of the loop follows the Isabella to the top of the mountain. It's actually a great summer hike because it gets you up over 7000 feet, in the pines! My photos are from last August. _________________ |

Yeah, in my pics you can barely make out the snowcapped peaks, because of the light blue sky background. But the views were pretty cool!! _________________ "In the first place you can't see anything from a car; you've got to get out of the goddamned contraption and walk, better yet crawl, on hands and knees...When traces of blood begin to mark your trail you'll see something, maybe."
