More information to come, but I just wanted to get this out here before Tom started busting on me.

July's Group hike of the month will be Humphrey's peak. My initial thinking is to get up there Friday evening and hit the trail early Saturday morning. Maybe meet at the trailhead at 8am?

The trail is well used and easy to follow. To the peak it's about 4.5 miles and 3300 feet of elevation gain. The trail starts off in a heavily wooded ponderosa pine forest but slowly climbs out of the trees. The saddle, about 3 miles in, makes a good lunch/break spot and for some people this will also be a good turn around spot. From the saddle to the peak can be pretty grueling if you are not from Flagstaff and there are 3 or 4 false peaks that will disppoint you on the way, but on a clear day the peak is well worth the effort.

I'm planning on taking the motorhome up early Friday July 9. Will probably camp at the same site we used last year.
Directions: take highway 180 out of Flagstaff as if you were driving to the Canyon. Three miles PAST the road into Snowbowl, on the right side of 180, is FR 151. It's a dirt road, but well graded and does not require high clearance. If I can get the campsite we used last year, it's three miles in on FR 151 and 1/4 mile before Hart Prairie. There are plenty of trees for hanging hammocks.
Plan on pot luck Saturday evening at the campsite.

we can reheat any leftovers the following day.....but this is apparently where the 2 different agendas begin to show up....LOL

Dennis, looks like the early rising hikers are gonna need some no-cook type of breakfast for Sat. morning...bagels and cream cheese? muffins? or if you'd prefer to bring something for Friday....how about dessert? Mr. Green

Is Anita gonna make it too?

Yeah that sounds good, mark me down for the bagels and cheese for Saturday morning!

No, Anita doesn't want to put herself through another Humphrey's summit, j/k.
Seriously though, she has a final project she needs to finish up for Tuesday, for her summer class so she will be sitting this one out.

Ok update (so ya'll don't have to flip back pages to find who's bringing what for Friday nite/Sat. AM)...I just thought since we've got so many different agendas going on this trip (i.e. folks coming on Friday, folks coming on Sat. some doing the hike, some laying in hammocks) that I'd break it down into smaller parts....

Friday crowd will need dinner...which I think we've agreed to a campsite cookout of hamburgers and "mashies" (not to rain on the spud parade, but wouldn't chips be easier? up to you guys), grilled veggies w/ corn on the cob, maybe some fruit or salad? dessert?

...and Sat. morning breakfast. We're planning a build your own breakfast burrito bar!! We'll need: eggs, cheese, churizo, bacon, salsa, tortillas, maybe hashbrowns? Juice? Coffee? For this we'll also need all three stoves (Trish, Tom and chihiggs) and 3-4 skillets going at one time so we can prepare quickly...and any volunteers to help cook? Mr. Green

Let me know what you'd like to contribute, for dinner or breakfast, and I'll add you to the list.

checking in Friday night we have:
Hooli (aka Cabana Bathroom Boy)---providing motorhome services to women in dire need and grilling tri-tip on Sat.
Dennis (aka Cabana Breakfast Boy)---bagels and cream cheese for the early morning Sat. hikers who haven't time for the breakfast burrito bar.
Trish--mashies?
Me---grilled corn on the cob & veggies, condiments for the burgers, tortillas
Tom---(aka Cabana Burger Boy) burgers and buns (and let's hope they're hamburger buns and not the kind we've all seen recently in the photo gallery)
Suz---churizo, bacon, eggs, salsa
Jim
AzBrad123--'in town' but tentative for dinner
chihiggs + 1 or 2 friends

STILL WAITING for someone else to, as Tom said, "scrounge up" what's going on for Sat....perhaps our fearless GHOTM leader Daryl????
