Perhaps the greatest thing about this site is the freedom that's allowed. Case in point: the above digression from original topic. I guess you could call this the kinder and gentler hiking site. The original topic was....
...oh yeah, possible site developments. There is a core group here that will support this site because of why it was born. It started as a scared and trembling remnent of an established kingdom that had been abandoned by it's king. A new kingdom was established for those who felt that loss. Lead by a couple of willing men and a common bond, once again the remnent had it's place of meeting and sharing and planning. A new and stronger community was born. How can we ever forget it.
If I were a sports fanatic and had a favorite team, I would no doubt show my support with a few items from the team shop. I must admit I'm an Arizona Hikers fanatic. _________________ ;o)> |

I think the merchandise idea, and the tip jar are a great idea. Many people gain immense benefit from the service you provide, but only a small portion pay for it. I think what you are proposing is a great idea. |

I'm 100% for what GTG suggested in the original post. But I'm equally 100% AGAINST the tip jar.
As for the coveted window stickers, license plate frames, etc: GTG has been providing these items and paying for them out of his own pocket. Admittedly they're not expensive items....individually....but given the numbers he's passed out it has to have added up. so, IMNSHO, we should be paying GTG for these items at his cost. I know GTG's response when you ask, "How much?"
"Aw, Y'all don't worry about it." Well, I'd suggest that you threaten to rip off some important part of his anatomy if he doesn't let you pay. Think the Window Stickers run around $2.00+/- and the license plate frames $6.00+/-.
Up to you to decide what part of his anatomy GTG considers important _________________ John Richardson and Richie Rich, El Perro de Playero
