I wear whatever I pull out of the closet that day.

Clothing: Although I do have 2 pairs of cargo shorts I got from GAP that are the best hiking shorts I've ever had. I'm also becoming a big fan of the new cool-max shirts - lightweight, they dry in seconds and they move very well. I have 3 I got from Target for $12 per shirt.

Boots: Asolo FSN something-or-other (2 yrs old so their product has changed)

Socks: Thor-Lo Trecking weight and Ultimax CoolMax liners

Hat: wide-brim ventilated

Other than that - nothing specific. Just whatever I'm in the mood for.

Unless, of course, I'm hiking nekid. Crazy Then it's just the boots, socks and hat. But I don't do that very often because the camelback pack pads chafe.....

I hike in nylon pants and a long sleeve white shirt summer and winter. I seldom wear shorts because the long pants protect my skin in summer. The shirt has good pockets. I hate hats. I hike in trail running tennis shoes summer and winter too. In the snow I put newspaper bags on my feet--works for me.

Occasionally I'll wear something different, but most often it's...

Sierra Designs mesh vent hat
swap meet sunglasses
REI MTS crew neck t-shirt
Marmot Precip jacket
REI Sahara pants/shorts
MTS boxers
Lowa Tempest Lo shoes
synthetic low cut sock over low cut cotton sock

I won't single out any brand names for most things, I usually just go with whatever I can afford when I need to replace something. but...

    *Wide brim hat
*long sleeve shirt (preferably with the ties on the arm to roll up the sleeves) (nylon in the summer wool in the winter)
    *short sleeve poly-something undershirt
*Convertable pants (nylon in the winter/wet, cotton in the summer)
*MTS boxers (I'll pay the extra $$ for these, they are fantastic)
    *Fox River socks
*For rain I have an impervious anorak I picked up at a thrift store
*In colder weather I carry a down or fleece vest (depending on how cold it might be...)
*depending on the conditions I use a merrel high or low cut boot or for short/lightweight or summer hikes I use a low cut, mostly mesh cross-trainer (not sure what brand...)
*I also use gaitors (rei desert gaitor) for cross-country or really brushy segments of a trail, they're great for keeping rocks/dust out of your shoes too)

First of all!!!!!! GO BIG RED!

Ihad no idea we had another Huskers fan on this site!!!!!! Fairweather where are you from!?

Now on to the subject at hand....

quick dry convertable pants nylon short sleeve shirts and nylon long sleeve blouce for the layerd look in the cooler weather and I will be wearing tanks this summer if I can find some quick dry stuff.... girls... any suggestions out there?

I learned my lesson the hard way about the synthetics and quick dry clothes on the WFW. Hank was my teacher! He loaned my the shirt off his back cause I was wet and cold in a cotton shirt that just wouldn't dry!

Diane, I found some synthetics shirts at Target, VERY cheap. Laughing But the selection is limited. Meaning.....potential for matching outfits again. Mary

Levi's Dockers Shorts (in summer, so that's March-November)
otherwise Columbia convertibles
ANYTHING CoolMax for a top, usually sleeveless & RED (sometimes purple)
SPF 15+
Merino wool socks (THEY ROCK!!)
Hi-Tech Cameron Youth boots...."No small feat" Mr. Green
Fleece vest for cooler temps
Scalia crushable hat
bandana of the AZ state flag
Those cool neck wrap things (the ones that expand in water)

Trish

Cargo shorts from LLBean, New Balance 963's over Therlo Cool Max Socks and thin polypro liners. Cold weather, just bought an REI ONE jacket I haven't had a chance to use yet. That'll go over a polypro long sleeved tee from Patagonia. Warm weather, what ever Tee I happen to grab that morning.

I usually wear my running clothes. Light, dries fast, keeps me cool. Seldom do I wear long pants. I hate the heat so it's mostly shorts for me. If I wear boots or shoes the socks will always be Fox River. Otherwise I wear my Teva's.
