WHERE: First Water TH
WHEN: March 6 @ 9 AM

This is a pretty easy 9.5+ mile loop hike in the Western Superstitions and I've traditionally done this one clockwise from Second Water through Garden Valley and up Black Mesa Trail into Boulder Basin. I'm thinking we need to add some zing to it and do it counter-clockwise and go in from the Dutchman #104 through Parker Pass to Boulder Basin and hike up Black Mesa (just for a change of pace). It's about 4 miles in on the Dutchman to Aylor's Camp so this would be a good place for lunch. Then a decent elevation gain and leg workout going up Black Mesa. I'm not sure of the elevation gain from Boulder Basin to the top of Black Mesa so anyone with this info please chime in. I know it's a decent climb.

FYI $4 fee at FW Trailhead

Found a great place for Post-hike and y'all should love this! Red, White & Brew on McDowell & Power Road. Excellent food and great beer.

Di...

Let's do the math Very Happy

If you and Ron hike at 2.5 MPH (which is sub-alien warp speed) Beam me up then you can do the 9.5 miles on the trail in 3.8 hours. OK a ten minute lunch break will bring you to an even 4 hours. You'll be out by 1:30 and home by 2:30....just because everything in Phoenix is an hour drive.

Spinning

Seriously though, this hike is usually is a 5 hour jaunt (6 with major goofing off). You should have plenty of time for your evening plans.

WOW... I just discovered what color CYAN is. It's an annoying iridescent blue that's not suited for 40+ year old eyes. Maybe it would look better under a blacklight and some Led Zepplin blaring in the background.

I'll change that color soon but y'all need to check it out. I never had CYAN in my box of 64 crayolas.

Right now, I'm planning on making this one... count me in!!

Dave isn't sure he can last for 9.5 miles yet, so we'll have to see. But he said if nothing else he would definitely make the post hike party.... I mean dinner!! He really had a good time Saturday and loved meeting everyone. I think he's hooked!!
