I will be visiting the Phoenix area late December. I am looking for a single night backpacking trip within a two hour drive from Phoenix. Ideally I would like to cover 10-15 miles each way (15 is perfect) for a total out and back of 20-30 miles.
I have cold weather gear, filter, etc. and will not be exceeding my physical abilities with distances above.
Is Sycamore loop a good choice? I love elevation gain but will trust your suggestions. Anything near Phoenix would be nice but not a requirement.
Much thanks.

n Dec, you can easily find something do in the Superstitions Mountains for 1 night. You will likely have to haul your own water but the temps will be good for overnights. _________________ Photos: http://www.pbase.com/desertgirl/galleries

I would do a Reavis Ranch trip or a Haunted Canyon into Toney Cabin.

You're requirements offer lots of choices. Within 2 hrs of Phx you could be in low desert, high desert, rim country, canyon country or low pine/chaparral mix. What are you looking for? _________________ Jamie
