cognizant |ˈkägnəzənt| (also cognisant )
adjective [ predic. ] formal
having knowledge or being aware of : statesmen must be cognizant of the political boundaries within which they work
antithesis |anˈtiθəsis|
noun ( pl. -ses |-ˌsēz|)
a person or thing that is the direct opposite of someone or something else : love is the antithesis of selfishness.
cognizantithesis:
The esoteric rhetoric (because some just have to hear it) -
The suggestion here is that my work and the process of making it involves a gray area where my action or mental state are the antithesis of cognizant, although if this were fully true I would not function at all. Suffice it to say this is a spiritual and existential realm not bound by the laws of physics and logic. By its own definition it may not make sense but I'm intuitively attempting to record it and perhaps answer the question as to why I'm so compelled to do so. It's not surrealism; that is too clear. It's more an exercise in understanding my being, limiting sensory input in order to amplify inward results. This combined with my (cognitive) knowledge of art, design and composition, make a framework for presentation. With this in mind one should expect to see a myriad of collective unconscious and/or archetypal images based on my being.
non-esoteric (lay terms) -
I move paint around on a surface until I like what I see and put it on display for viewers to enjoy as they see it. There is no academic prerequisite. Glean what you will. _________________ ;o)> |
