Wow, I remember that one. My first trip into the Canyon! And the smorgasborg of weather !! Think almost every kind was experienced or just about. Interesting to say the least.

And I realized on that trip just how heavy pack & gear are when they get wet!

One option for September could be the Chiricahuas and Rustler Park (believe we did that a few years back), but I'm not sure what the fire damage is there. Anybody been up there and have any idea?

Unfortunately Rustler Park got pretty well incinerated last year, and I think the campground is still closed (not the trails).

A very good alternative is West Turkey Creek, which has excellent trail choices and is easy to get to.

Too bad about the Chiricahuas. The National Monument with the HooDoos is really pretty and the trails were a pretty hike up. Checked and camp and drive is still closed as stated. Dang, meant to go again, looks like it will have to wait a bit.

But Turkey Creek looked pretty interesting and a nice area to go to.

Ambika,

I would like to try again for Keet Seel as soon as the Rangers at Navajo National Monument open it up to visits. That's around the end of May, I believe.

I won't know for sure if I can make it out at that time until after the New Year though.

If there's interest, I'll do what I can about scheduling a trip. If I can't make it, I could still make arrangements for the passes and be with you in spirit!!

Hey Ken,

LTNS! Hope all is fine with you Smile

I'll keep my eye out for a Keet Seel trip as I really want to get there. "If you plan it, they will come"
