Today I went out to the Tonto Narrows. I haven't been there for some time.
The Narrows and the parking for the TH have been closed. There a forest signs up saying it has been closed and you will be towed if you park there.
Now I can not find it on the Tonto Park National Forest website but at the site; the road and parking have been reconfigured with the help of some boulders. There is a big sign on the gate where we used to walk through saying the area has been closed due to theft, vandalism and disrespect of private property and the Narrows themselves.
Can't say I blame the ranchers if they pushed this; I have been a part of a couple clean-ups there and the place is generally trashed by people...
I will miss that sweet little swimming hole though... _________________ All our dreams come true if we have the courage to pursue them...Walt Disney |

Can't you go there if you get there another, more difficult, way? |

There are 6 other major access points listed on the sign. The sign also states that the area of the Narrows has been closed. So sure, I looked at the map and there are other reasonable access points for the Narrows.
Just remember that the area is closed. _________________ All our dreams come true if we have the courage to pursue them...Walt Disney |

Wonder why they keep doing that, instead of going to a permit system. I would think they will get sued for denying access to public lands. |
