This past weekend Tom Trekker, Paintninaz, GTG and I went climbing for the first time out side of a class and with out an instructor present. We some friends, Cheryl and Katie went with us. It was great fun! We got lots of anchors practice in and a bit of climbing. As time goes by the climbing will increase cause the anchors won't take so long but as we get started we are taking our time and checking eachother out and making sure we are ERNEST and safe.
We stayed up in the area and camped Saturday night and it the truest AZH fashion ate like kings and queens and slept the chilly night out in comfort and got up the next morning and had coffee and went back out to set up again and climb some more.
The second days activities turned out to be even less climbing than the first as there was a gang of wasps who were not happy to have us in the neighborhood and terrorized us until we left them alone. Not to mention one of the anchors we worked so very hard on turned out to be in the wrong spot so we ended up tearing it down and didn't have a third route. That was of course only after Cheryl got her rope stuck in a tree when she threw it over the edge... too bad we didn't find out it was in the wrong spot before she threw the rope!
The Overlook is in large part crack climbing which I don't have much experience in I didn't do as well as I would have liked but came home happy as a clam! I am not looking for perfect but more practice would sure be fun! _________________ ~~~Diane~~~

Sounds fun! I have only been there once, but it was a good time. I would love to get together with everyone and go on a climbing trip sometime. Maybe Jack's canyon is in the future? _________________ Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you've imagined. Long story short, we ended up at the Overlook again this weekend and had a great time! It is a great place to work on your crack climbing! I am posting a few pictures in the gallery! _________________ ~~~Diane~~~

That looks like a lot of fun. Thanks for sharing the pictures. _________________ It is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring. -- Carl Sagan |
