So I've been bouncing some ideas around for our annual Shindig. I'd like to hear what y'all think about some possible places to have it. Looking at February or March. A few of us discussed Seven Springs but there is not enough camping there for us I think. Possibilities could include another deal at Cave Creek or up to Globe to the recreational area on top of Mt Pinal. Lost Dutchman with a good hike in the Supes would be good too. Maybe to coincide with the Full Dutchman hike? What do y'all think?

I think if we're looking at Feb/March, the top of Pinal Peak (at 7500') seems like it's is going to be too cold, and possibly still covered in snow, for some folks. Freezing

Coinciding it with the weekend of the Full Dutchman hike sounds good to me. There's certainly plenty of hiking options for everyone out there!! Hiking

That's my 2 cents. Mr. Green

Say What? Tim, is there a balloon festival going on in Vegas or something??? Why aren't you coming to AZ??? dunno

If you're planning something in the Superstitions and/or Lost Dutchman State Park I could do that. It's not likely that I'll do the Full Dutchman hike (a 2nd time) but might coordinate a climb in the area for the same weekend.

I'll keep eye on this thread to see what develops.

Full dutchman timeframe is out for me, I'll have to miss this one, but I'm sure you'll all have a Grand Time.

I just made plans to climb 6 pitch/1300 foot tower of Courthouse Rock out by the Eagletail Mountains on the 20th of Feb. Multi I imagine it will be a long and full day.

If you settle on this particular weekend and location (Feb 20-21 @ Lost Dutchman State Park) I could certainly meet up on Sunday morning.

Just some ideas...it is kind of nice back there by Quartz Peak...would be lots of room for remote camping. (There is a bathroom at trailhead). Also Table Top Wilderness area is interesting. Small camping area there but folks may be able to disperse. I guess it depends on the group size and what amenities everyone wants.
Keep us posted..I am sure whatever you come up with will be great, it always is!

I thought of another place Todd, Picacho Peak State Park, which is on the CLOSE list for AZ State Parks. Might be a good time to enjoy this while it is still available. There is quite abit of camping there even though it is close to the freeway. And the back flank hike climbing the cables is always fun....

The only weekend that I can think of in February that Dave and I would not be available is the last weekend in February, the 27th and 28th. But the weekend before, the 20th-21st, is good. As for where, I like either LDSP or Picacho Peak.
