|
|
As some of you know, we lost a dear friend earlier this year - evenstar - also known as Hooli amongst many other names.
We will be having a celebration of his life on Saturday November 21st. A Hooligy if you will.
We have the Willow Overflow Campground G at White Tanks Regional Park reserved for us for Friday and Saturday nights. Room for 8 large tents, 12 - 15 small tents, 5 tables, 5 grills and a large fire ring.
So come on out, help us celebrate and remember. More details to come.
Food Stuff
GTG - firewood and fried homegrown okra
Hikngrl - pancakes, bacon, brats and fixn's, don't worry, I won't leave Todd in charge of mustard!
paintninaz - tri-tip over easy
Tom Treks - A lighter and Panther Piss
jmzblond - Hooli's favorite brownies!
beckett - pumpkin bread and pumpkin cookies
wanderingsoul - artichoke/spinach dip and some thing to dip (???)

Around when do you think we'll be doing/eating the Tri-Tip? Looks like we might also need something to go with that. How about a hashbrown casserole? I could bring that, too. Just let me know. _________________ Blond, James Blond... double "O", uh oh!!

Looks like I will not arrive until Saturday afternoon but put me into the pot-luck with Braised Peanut Chicken and couscous (a Moroccan dish). _________________ Tony |

This gathering could not have been more perfect.... definitely a fitting Hooligy! And I appreciate all the thought and time that went into planning this event. Thank you, because I really needed this.
It did my heart good to see so many of my best friends, all of whom I love and admire so very deeply and dearly, telling great stories, sharing the most delicious food, drinking, laughing, and totally honoring a beloved AZH family member in the manner in which he deserves and will always be remembered.
I will always love Hooli. And I will always have this wonderful memory of this very special day celebrating his everlasting imprint on all of us! Thank you all so much. _________________ Blond, James Blond... double "O", uh oh!!

Ditto to what Jamie said. The "Fab Five", as Hooli's daughter calls them, did a great job putting together a perfect day honoring a great guy.
Thanks to all and "God Bless Hooli."

It was great to see you all for this very special occasion. I posted pics in the gallery. I added permissions for everyone, as I only took a few during the day. Beckett and I were the only hikers, so thought I would share a couple of our shots. There was lots of activity at camp and by dinnertime, everyone gathered together for the usual awesome feast. It was a time for reflecting and after many years in this group, I personally enjoy seeing God's continued blessings at work, growth, the relationships, the kids, and the camaraderie. As human beings, you all impress me in a positive way.
I kept drinking with the rock in my glass, Hooli would have wanted it that way!

Echo all the above sentiments Also.
It was a very nice Tribute to Hooli, he would really have liked it.
It was very well planned with special picture board, chair, hat and all.
Hooli was truly there in spirit through another Thank you for putting this all together. A perfect memorial!
Hooli will always be remembered fondly by many. The motto of "Leave No Footprint" doesn't apply here. Hooli left a very definite Footprint in all of us. And rightfully so.
Timing was perfect being close to Thanksgiving to remind us to be thankful for friendships, good times and all we have. Good to see everyone who came. The weather was perfect and Food was abundant but all so delicious. Tri tip was excellent, cooked (ruined as Hooli would have said) but tender and juicy. Sorry Hooli, I think it is good that way (cooked) All the accompanying food was great. Thank you all for such a wonderful feast and grand time!
Nice Pic's SandeJ, running late I stupidly forgot my camera. Nice to see the prep work and the hike you and Linda did. Thanks for sharing. _________________ Wanderingsoul (Michelle)

Thank you every one for coming out! It was a wonderful weekend full of friends and memories. Just the celebration we were hoping for. I know Hooli would have approved! I will try and get some pictures up as soon as I can. I didn't take many but I will put up what I have. _________________ ~~~Diane~~~

Yes, it was a good time. A classic Hooligy long overdue. Yet another classic AZH outing to the White Tanks (Hooli's favorite... ).
The Hooli collage turned out great. Wish the old curmudgeon was there in body to experience it.
I'm sure his spirit was lurking around blowing the campfire smoke in our faces.
Wonder what he would have said when he found out I was the "Martini on the ROCKS" culprit after all these years? hee hee
Good friends and too much great food as always. Just have to remember when to stop stuffing my face. I was in major pain Sat night.
'Til next time y'alls. |

I put up some photos but I don't know how to name my nested album. Any help?

Nice pics Linda. You captured many of the memories in just those few shots. Good going gal. I'm sure the others that had cameras got some good ones also.
Thanks all for sharing. _________________ Wanderingsoul (Michelle)

Wish you and the kids could have joined us, Ken. How are you doing, bro'?
Ya know, I haven't seen any pics from Todd or Diane yet. I guess they are too "busy, busy, busy". |
