The flowers this season really just are amazing. We hiked just a little of the Thompson Trail, near Big Lake, along the West Fork of the Black River today.
I put photos in the Gallery, but I didn't know the Gallery won't accept bigger files, so the photos I put were the e-share size.
There are a couple of flowers I'd like help identifying.
The temperature was very comfortable, and it was sunny for most of the hike, then the clouds came up. This time we remembered our rain gear, and needed it for the last half mile!
Here's a sample photo:

It's addictive, too! We went back the next day with our mtn. bikes, since there is an old RR grade along the canyon, in addition to a hiking trail. The RR grade is designated for mtn. bikes and horses. That was this past Sunday. We were out there most of the day, rode 10 miles and saw no one!
The RR grade heads generally south, and then there is a split. We kept on to the south, along an old dirt road. It is a really nice ride. My husband isn't much of a mtn. biker but he did fine. If anything the second day was more fun than the first day since I felt I actually got some exercise and covered some miles. Plus, I just love mtn. biking, especially if it is in a really wild area but is not too technical.

The girls and I did the Thompson trail 4 or 5 years ago when Baldy was closed. We loved it. Also enjoyed learning about the Apache Trout on that hike. _________________ ;o)> |

Lockett's Meadow is pretty but don't go on a weekend.
Let me know if you want company on a hike! I may be available, not sure, though. |
