Inertia simply put, a body at rest tends to stay at rest and a body in motion tends to stay in motion. Lately I've been a body at rest, thinking of hiking but not getting out. I had off work today and thought it would be a great day to hike Picketpost. But I needed to do some things at home and puttered around for awhile.

I looked at the clock and saw it was 11:30 so I thought, "Oh well, might as well blow it off again." Then a voice inside me said "You have two choices, you can get up and hike or sit here and die." I jumped up, threw some water bottles and sunscreen in my pack. Then I fixed a large coffee to go, rushed out to the CRV, and drove to the trailhead. At the trailhead I discovered I'd left my pack at home.

Darn, well, it's cool and overcast. I'll just hike a little bit and when I start feeling stressed I'll turn around. I ended up turning around at the summit mailbox. The overcast skies and cool breeze kept me comfortable for the whole hike. Crazy, I know. I saw a few lizards, a couple of racers, some flowers and had great views from the top. The mailbox is full of postcards and notebooks.

Anyway, now that I'm in motion I intend to stay in motion. I'll post some pictures later after I finish re-hydrating.
