Any suggestions for a bicycle touring type tent. I do't like the bivys but I came across Sierra Designs Clip Flashlight and the MSR microzoid. |

I have a Clip Flashlight which I think I snagged as a "last years model" sale item. Very nice tent for three season sub 12k country (Above 12k there is always the possibility of the fourth season at any time....). One step smaller than that in both weight and volume is the Mountain Hardwear Trinity, which I got at REIoutlet.com. It is about 2/3 up between a bivy and the Clip Flashlight. Probably not as wind/stormproof as the Flashlight, due to less pole structural support, but both are pretty nice. Feel free to contact me if you'd like to check out either before buying sight unseen. I haven't checked out the MSR tents yet, like their other gear.
Both Sierra Design and Mountain Hardwear make very good tents as does North Face ( The founder of Mtn HW used to be at North Face and also hired some tent people from Sierra D when he started Mtn HW) Biblers are also very nice, and lighter wieght since they use a single wall design with a proprietary PTFE fabric. But...bring your wallet! -Randy |

Nighthiker-
I use the Older Walrus (pre-MSR) Zoid 1.0 for backpacking and bike trips. It's dandy for me but I'd think a larger person might find it too confining. I wish I'd waited until MSR bought Walrus, since they've made some nice refinements to the tent.

Thanks for the information everyone, I selected a Eureka Backcountry 1 and I received it today from Campmor. It weighs 4.2 lbs. and stuffed size is 6x18 inches and earthtone colors olive and tan that I could also use it as blind for observing wildlife. |
