Ok it was decided today during what turned out to be the March GHOTM to take a long weekend and go to the Canyon for April's fun! The dates planned are April 26, 27, 28. Plan is loose right now but includes a two night camp on our closed road just outside Tusayon and various different day hikes that can be done to suit your fancy/ current abilities. Needless to say my current abilities are not up to my old standards so we can't plan a rim to rim for this thing!. Some ideas thrown about were down to Horseshoe Mesa, Down to Dripping Springs, down Kiabab to the Tonto and over then out the Bright Angle (a bit longer than most).... the list is longer and we are willing to discuss it here on this thread. We don't all have to hike the same hike but it would be fun if at the end of our hikes we all came back to the same camp and had a nice fire and some fun and food! Friday will be a driving/ social day. Hiking can be done both Saturday and Sunday if you'd like. Or! You don't have to hike at all. You can just hang out and have fun with us at my favorite place in the world! This one will be incredibly flexible! What do you all think? Let's talk about it!

what a great weekend! It was nice to see everyone at our beautiful campsite.

That 14.5 mile hike was quite the hike at nearly 3 MPH. It would have been nice if it had been a tad cooler and I should have asked for one more stop.

Monday morning I woke up with excruciating pain in my left foot; thank goodness for ibuprofen. The foot had swelled up and I could hardly put any pressure on it Dismayed . I don't know why. It feels like a broken or jammed toe though it is neither. I am finally able to put pressure on it today. SHEESH, if that's what after-burners are all about, I think I need to hike more so I can use them Laughing without damaging my feet.

Anyway, it was great fun spending time with you all and hiking with Tracy and Shawn and Ambika. And to top it off, we got to stop in Cameron, after driving thru new territory for me, and I got my 1/2 Indian taco. YUMMMMM.

put up my album for Segment 37... or so I thot, but it is MIA; at least I can't see it. I had a little trouble putting up as I think I created an album within an album. I'll try again tonite. I would like to have just put it inside Amibika's but couldn't figure that out.

still can't put full pressure on my foot but it's better. sure wish I knew what is/was wrong.

Some info about the Condor (L0) we saw

Tag# L0

Age in 2012 2

I think if I read the data correct -- This is a hatch & release bird.

okay, photo album is up and sticking. I just added captions. Also if you want to watch the condor and lizard in a non-action video you can check this out:

http://youtu.be/J-zdHgGSDck
Change the quality setting to HD and the 2nd large screen for best viewing.

Lessons learned from this hike:
Be sure there is ample beer at the end of the shuttle.
Don't tell Angela about ice cream when there's still 5 miles to go Laughing and don't get over zealous with smashing pine cones with your feet.

HAPPY TRAILS!
