Just started myself. Hey, it's just another good excuse to get out there.. Smile If you are, let know of some cool ones in the East Valley.

I have been doing something quite similar for many years now. With a topo map I will try to locate features on the map out on the terrain such as benchmarks, caves, springs, mine shafts, etc. with a compass and now with a gps. A friend of mine calls geocaching Yuppie Grafitti.

That's a great idea. Neat way to learn (and experience) land navigation.

I geocache on a fairly regular basis, I love it. I wish I had a better GPS, I'm keeping an eye out for one on my second favorite website, eBay!

I find all my trips on the geocaching website.

I was useful, you asked about East Valley caches. There is a nice hike/geocache at Usery Park. The name on the geocaching website is "Jack's Fan". I couldn't find the cache because I'm lame and have a crappy GPS.

Basics are: finding a cache of items or item that has been placed in a certain area and you are given the geo coordinates. Your objective is to find the cache; geocache. Hint: use a GPS.

Hooli recently found this one in the scree chute on Brown's Peak:

Hmmm...If I recall previous posts, that would be Kristyn and JmzBlond - Yep, that's mighty fine company you keep. They'll hike you into the ground, but their company makes it worthwile.
