I'm proposing the weekend of August 6th for a fun hike up Granite Mountain, here near Prescott. If you'd like to escape the heat and hike through the ponderosa pines, let me know...

We could camp near Granite Mountain Friday and/or Saturday nights, or just come up for a day hike.

Or, for the really adventurous, we could hike up on Saturday, camp out at my secret campsite on Granite Mountain (known only to the general public), and hike down Sunday morning...

Hank

I love how you volunteered me... just kidding. I had agreed in our emails to do this but it's funny when you see it in print on a website, Chuckle
...Kind of like when I was in Glacier Park last year and I am looking at a site to see I've signed up to do Humphrey's. Eek

I'm thinking that it might be a good idea to get a relatively early start, such as 7:30 or 8:00 AM, just to beat the heat of the day, and possible thunderstorms. However, be prepared for either (or both!), with plenty of water, and some rain gear... It's around 4 miles each way (out and back), so if things get less than pleasant, we can turn around at any time. If folks feel adventuresome, we could also try for the summit, but it isn't necessary, as there are still lots of wonderful views along the way..

If 7:30 is too early let me know...

So, is this just turning into a day hike? Is anyone planning on camping? I am pretty sure Tony was planning on camping so if that is not longer part of the plan I should let him know.
