Was out on Saguaro Lake yesterday scouting out possible hikes on the northern shore and spotted this "flag waver" on the butte east of Bagley Flat (approx. 33.5595N, 111.47338W). It is obviously a mast sporting both the Stars & Stripes as well as the AZ State Flag (not ordinarily a proper display) but I do not know what manner of person or animal it is that supports the mast. We guessed it to be a "chupacabra" but really have no idea. Nor were we able to find out its origin or purpose. Does anyone have a clue? Thanks. |

I think that is the mascot for AZ National Guard Company A 2/285 Kyotes. It's a metal coyote holding a flag. A few months ago I saw a bighorn standing beside the coyote -but they were too far away for a photo. I have seen a blackhawk hovering over the flag-quite a sight when you are at Sandy Beach! |
