Day hike from the Chisos basin up the Pinnacles and Boot Springs trails to the South Rim of the Chisos. Then back on the Laguna Meadows Trail, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcI1ogpt6Qw , Quite an extraordinary place!

Looks like a nice hike! Is there river running at this time of year, or is that later in the winter or spring?

The river is canoeable when low and raftable when high. falll is a good time to do the river. The Chisos are just magical. Very different than the AZ and Utah desert I'm used to. I was amazed at how few people were in the park.

I checked out all the river running outfits, looking for a guide I know works in Colorado in summer, and Arizona's Salt River in spring, and I did find him. There seem to be only 3 outfitters doing that. However, you can also get a private permit. It would be fun to go there for a couple weeks, do a backpack, a river trip and some cycling.
