Trish has a great suggestion she sent me in a PM -- I thought it would be good to toss this out to the group get inputs ....

Every year I guess there has been a gift exchange between all of us but maybe this year instead of the gift exchange we could all donate the $20 we would have spent on a gift to each other to a "gift fund" in memory of Joe Domin. Maybe donate that money to CAMRA or another worthy cause since they work non profit. |

I will go to Wells Fargo tomorrow and ask about opening a special escrow account or something like that. If everyone is in agreement with this then I can open an account (I will want another person to sign with me as a joint account holder). This way all funds/donations are accounted for. I'm sure we can make it so donations can be done online or via phone to the account.
Would also like to open this up for the HAZ community if no one has any objection to that.
Since CAMRA and SAR operate non profit, maybe we can give these funds to them for future operations in Joe's name. They've done so much in his search effort. If anyone has other suggestions, please PM me and then we can put them all out there for a vote.
Thanks

Awesome idea! I would be so willing to make a deposit into said account!
As a way to replace our usual gift exchange (which always provides lots of laughter and fun times) how about considering a hiking related "white elephant" gift exchange done in the same manner? _________________ ~~~Diane~~~

UM... not sure what "owning" it would entail 'cept to clarify the rules which would be that every one who wants to participate can bring a white elephant gift wrapped to place in the pile and we can play the rip-a-gift game the way we always do with the white elephant gifts.
To clarify the definition of white elephant gift I would say that a white elephant gift would be something you already own that you don't find your self using that some one else might like to own. Please don't make it something that really should be thrown away cause then no one will ever want to steal it then the game is not as much fun.
I would be glad to run the game when the time comes however that is usually SandeJ's position so if indeed she would like to do the honors I am perfectly happy to let her continue the tradition as she always does it so well! _________________ ~~~Diane~~~

I have also tossed out the idea of getting a register installed at the Mt. Peeley Trailhead. I'll keep you updated as I get information this week. |
