HUGE downpour this afternoon, every low spot was full of water or running water. The ditch beside the road in was running strong. Hope it dries out for tomorrow.

This is a preview of heaven--clear blue skies, snow on the mountain, sun streaming through fluffy clouds overhead down onto the colors that are beginning to pop and t-shirt temperatures. I've got two days left here, feels like I'll be leaving just as the big show is beginning.

We are well along with rehabbing the root celler--that former pile of logs across from the Homestead cabin. Be sure to check it out next weekend while you're all here.

Oh wow a Root Cellar. Haven't seen one of those in ages. That's cool! I'll have to check that out
When I was growing up our next door neighbor (an older couple) had one.
Harvey grew an all Organic garden and they stored everything they could in Root Cellar for winter. Mary the wife I remember her giving my Dad a word or several for spraying the dandelions in our grass. My Dad used to wait to spray until she had gotten her stash. She picked the dandelion leaves and used for salad and used the flower heads to make dandelion wine (I think that is what she used, I was too little and don't know).

Shawn it just dawned on me from you post? Aren't you going to be there next weekend also?

Sorry, I'm committed to some family things that weekend, they objected to me abandoning them all summer. There's plenty of work to do, so tote that barge, lift that bale, or whatever it is Neil will have everyone doing. We spent quite a bit of time trimming the dead branches out of the willow trees, I think hauling and piling that stuff is high on the list. You'll see lots of changes this year around the Preserve, so enjoy!
